Pranayama is a Sanskrit word from ancient yoga philosophy:
Prana means “life force” or vital energy.
Ayama means “to expand, regulate, or direct.”
Pranayama is the awareness and regulation of the breath to influence the flow of energy in the whole body.
Every thought, emotion, and action has a matching breath pattern.
When we feel anxious, our breath becomes short and quick.
When we feel calm, the breath slows down, becoming deep and steady.
In yoga, we use the breath as a powerful tool for change. By consciously guiding the breath, we can influence the nervous system, calm the mind, energize the body, and create balance within.
In this practice, we will explore 7 breathing techniques. Each one connects to one of the body’s 7 energy centers (chakras) and supports:
Nervous system regulation
Balanced brain wave activity
Steady heart rate
Healthy blood pressure response
Improved oxygen efficiency
This session is suitable for all levels. Variations and gentle guidance will be offered so you can practice in a way that feels comfortable and supportive for your body.
